Whistleblowing training in Kenya
Most frauds are found through tips, and more than half of tips come from employees. This course teaches staff what to report, how to report it and how they are protected. A separate session for ethics and investigation officers covers intake, triage and confidential case handling.
Based in Nairobi, we work with organisations in Kenya, across East Africa and worldwide.

What the law and standards provide
Kenya has no stand-alone whistleblower law, so policies, training and the Anti-Bribery Act carry the weight.
| Rule or standard | What it requires | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Anti-Bribery Act, s.21 | An offence to victimise whistleblowers and witnesses. | Everyone |
| Sector rules and donor requirements | Reporting channels that staff know and trust. | Regulated institutions and donor-funded NGOs |
| ISO 37002 | The international standard for whistleblowing management systems. | Organisations building speak-up programmes |
Recent developments and emerging issues
The course is updated as rules change. These are the developments it currently covers. Last reviewed: October 2026.
Still no stand-alone whistleblower law
The 2023 bill lapsed in 2025, and the Attorney General's 2024 draft has not been enacted. Organisations rely on their own policies and the Anti-Bribery Act.
ISO 37002 remains the benchmark
The standard for speak-up systems was reconfirmed in July 2026.
ACFE Occupational Fraud 2026
Tips detected 43% of cases, online reporting channels now exceed phone hotlines, and staff trained on fraud make more reports.
EU whistleblowing rules
The EU Whistleblowing Directive is under review, and the new EU Anti-Corruption Directive extends its protections to corruption reports. Kenyan subsidiaries of EU groups should expect channel changes.

Questions about whistleblowing training
Is there a whistleblower act in Kenya?
No. Kenya has no stand-alone whistleblower protection law; the 2023 bill lapsed in 2025. The Anti-Bribery Act protects people who report bribery, and organisations rely on their own policies. Our whistleblower policy guide explains what a good policy contains.
Can I be dismissed for whistleblowing?
The Anti-Bribery Act makes it an offence to victimise a person who reports bribery, and Kenyan employment law protects employees against unfair dismissal. A good policy prohibits retaliation and explains how reporters are protected. This is general information, not legal advice.
Who qualifies as a whistleblower?
Usually anyone who reports a concern in good faith through the organisation's channels, including employees, contractors, suppliers and partners, depending on your policy.
What should whistleblowing training cover?
What to report, how and where, what happens after a report, how confidentiality and protection work, and, for case handlers, intake, triage and investigation.
Is there a certificate?
Yes. Every learner who completes the course receives a certificate of completion.
